Directed by: Robert Zemeckis
Genre: Drama, Comedy
Release Date: July 6, 1994 (1994-07-06)
Running Time: 141 minutes
MMPA rating: PG-13

The Good: Altought Forrest Gump is a drama there a good deal of humor, Tom Hanks performance was excellent, A few memorable and hilarious moments,  Memorable qutoes, The way that the movie uses real historical film and puts Forrest Gump is them was amazing, Great use of licensed from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

The Bad: Some parts of the movie were slow and boring,

Plot: The following plot summery is copied from Wikipedia.com.
In 1981, Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) sits at a bus stop in Savannah, Georgia, telling his life story to strangers nearby. His tale starts about the childhood braces he wore around both of his legs. At Forrest's home, he meets Elvis Presley, who he teaches a dance move to, which Presley later displays at a concert shown on a television. On his first day of school, Forrest meets a girl named Jenny Curran (Robin Wright), with whom he immediately falls in love and whose life is followed parallel to his. Despite his below average intelligence quotient (IQ), his ability to run very fast gets him on the University of Alabama football team. He ultimately becomes an All-American and meets President John F. Kennedy. While attending college he witnesses George Wallace's attempt to prevent integration at the school.
After graduation, Forrest enlists in the Army. He makes friends with Benjamin Buford Blue, nicknamed Bubba (Mykelti Williamson), who convinces him to be his partner in the shrimping business when the Vietnam War is over. In 1967, he and Bubba are sent to Vietnam, and after several months of patrolling with the 9th Infantry Division, their platoon is ambushed. Forrest is shot in the buttocks but rescues many of the men in his unit, although Bubba is fatally wounded and dies. Lt. Dan Taylor (Gary Sinise), the platoon's commanding officer, is also seriously wounded and loses both legs. He chastises Forrest for saving him, insisting that he would rather have died honorably on the battlefield than become a cripple. Watch the movie to see what happens next.

Plot: 8.7/10- The plot is very original and is nothing like anything I have seen before.

Action: N/A

Acting: 8.7/10- Tom Hanks performance was top notch and the other cast members were also very good.

Special effects: 8.5/10- way that the movie uses real historical film and puts Forrest Gump is them was amazing you have to see it to understand what I am talking about.

Soundtrack: 8.8/10- The soundtrack its self was very good but the licensed music used in it was fantastic.

Comedy: 8.9/10- I am rating the comedy compared to other movies that are not all comedy. There were few memorable and hilarious moments and quotes.

Overall: 8.5/10- Remember that the score for the movie is relative to other dramas and not action movies. Overall Forrest Gump is one of the few movie that liked that was not an action movie or a comedy.

Closing comments: Forrest Gump is a movie that everyone who are old enough to watch the movie should watch it.

Valkyrie Review.

Hi this is your ever friendly blogger, Rebecca! However, I'm not the one who will be posting today, I'm still up in the mountains (though this intro was actually written before I went) but anyway this post is written by my friends Jacob and James! I've known these guys almost all my life and trust me when I say that they're awesome! So sit back relax and enjoy their post and if you want to check out their blog it's http://jandjproductions.blogspot.com!
For starters we would like to thank Rebecca for letting us write this guest post on her blog.

If you have seen the movie please give it any score from 1 to 10.

Directed by: Bryan Singer
Genre: Suspense, Thriller
Release Date: December 25, 2008 (2008-12-25)
Running Time: 124 minutes
MMPA rating: PG-13

The Good: Mostly historically accurate,

The Bad: All of the characters in the movie are supposed to speak with German but none of them have German accents and all of them have different accents, which really takes you away from the overall feel of the movie,

Plot: The following plot summery is copied from Wikipedia.com.
During World War II, Wehrmacht Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Cruise) is severely wounded during an RAF air raid in Tunisia, losing a hand and an eye, and is evacuated home to Nazi Germany. Meanwhile, Major General Henning von Tresckow (Branagh) attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler by smuggling a bomb aboard the Führer's personal airplane. The bomb, however, is a dud and fails to detonate, and Tresckow flies to Berlin in order to safely retrieve it. After learning that the Gestapo has arrested Major General Hans Oster, he orders General Olbricht (Nighy) to find a replacement. After recruiting Stauffenberg into the German Resistance, Olbricht presents Stauffenberg at a meeting of the secret committee which has coordinated previous attempts on Hitler's life. The members include General Ludwig Beck (Stamp), Dr. Carl Goerdeler (McNally), and Erwin von Witzleben (Schofield). Stauffenberg is stunned to learn that no plans exist on the subject of what is to be done after Hitler's assassination.
During a bombing raid on Berlin, he gets the idea of using Operation Valkyrie, which involves the deployment of the Reserve Army to maintain order in the event of a national emergency. The plotters carefully redraft the plan's orders so that they can dismantle the Nazi regime after assassinating Hitler. Realizing that only General Friedrich Fromm (Wilkinson), the head of the Reserve Army, can initiate Valkyrie, they offer him a position as head of the Wehrmacht in a post-Nazi Germany and request his support, but Fromm declines to be directly involved. With the rewritten Operation Valkyrie orders needing to be signed by Hitler (Bamber), Stauffenberg visits the Führer at his Berghof estate in Bavaria. In the presence of Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Wilhelm Keitel, Heinrich Himmler, Hermann Göring and Albert Speer, his inner circle, Hitler praises Stauffenberg's heroism in North Africa and signs the orders without fully examining the modifications, believing Stauffenberg's changes are "for the best". Watch the movie to see what happens next but if you know munch about WWII history you know what is going to happen next.

Plot: 7.7/10- The plot is based on real events and it is mostly accurate.

Action: 3.5/10- Valkyrie is not an action movie but there is a short action scene.

Acting: 7.0/10- The acting is solid but the accents really takes you away from the feel of the movie. A guy saying "Hail Hilter" with a British accent is just wrong.

Special effects: N/A

Soundtrack: 7.3/10- The soundtrack was good and set the tone of the movie well enough.

Comedy: N/A

Overall: 7.4/10- Overall Valkyrie is a soild war movie but fails as a suspense thriller.

Closing comments: If you are a huge Tom Cruise fan or a war movie fan you should like it.

Packing for My Great Mountain Adventure....

Yea, I know the titles a bit dramatic...but hey it works!

Well here I am again...talking about my up coming trip to the mountains! But this time, instead of talking about what we're going to do up there...I'm talking about packing. Oh you lucky ducks you...you get to listen to me ramble on about what clothes I'm taking or not taking and what not! X-) Sorry guys but I'm just a little over excited about this and I REALLY want to get in some posting before I leave.

Anyway, as you all know I'm going to The Mountains Above Mayberry and so naturally I've got quite a bit of packing to do! I've not only got to pack for the four days we'll be gone...but also for the trip up there! It takes approximately five hours to get from Mayberry to the mountains!! And sadly we're not going in the infamous Church Bus. Why is it infamous you ask? Well let's just say the bus has some engine problems that usually make the five hour trip take six. So this year we're going in separate cars. I'll probably ride with Mrs. Lisa and Jessie (Mrs. Lisa being one of our youth leaders) since I don't have a car yet and therefore can't drive myself out of state. And the rest of the group (it's not a very big group going this year) will probably ride with the rest of the youth leaders. One or two may drive themselves...but I kinda doubt it seeing how most of them are only year older than me and their parents aren't too crazy about them driving out of state and up in the mountains.

Anyway, I'll be taking LOADS of awesome pictures for you guys while I'm up there...but you'll have to wait until I get back before I upload them. I'm not taking a computer with me (I never do on trips like this because I don't want to have to keep up with it.) and so you'll just have to wait.

But anyway back to packing! So far I'm taking three turtle necks (One black one blue and one brown), one cow neck (a black one), two pairs of shoes, three pairs of pants, a black puffer vest, a black puffer jacket, and a whole host of socks and other unmentionable things.

Then of course I've got to bring my hair supplies (not much, just a brush, a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and two kinds of hair gunk.) my make up (again not much) and other necessary things such as D.O., perfume, tooth paste and a tooth brush. All of which isn't much and fits in a small zip lock bag. :)

I've also got, as you can see, my Sylvester hat! :D I got it for Christmas and this is the PERFECT time to use it!! So me and the famous cat are off to the mountains! I'm also bringing two pairs of gloves, a scarf and another hat....just in case. I'm also bringing my swim suit because sometimes we go swimming in the hotels indoor pool! :D As far as entertainment goes I think that the mountains will be entertainment enough! But just in case I'm bringing my ancient MP3 player, two books and a small journal. I don't expect I'll need them but hey what the heck right? The George Washington book may be replaced though. It's old, from 1952 and I got it at a thrift store because I like vintage books. But it's not a very good read, mainly because it's shorter than it looks and I want something long. Who knows...I may bring LOTRs or Sherlock Holmes to keep me company. As for the WWII book it stays. I haven't finished it yet and every time I pick it up I find something new and interesting in it! :D

Over all I'm packing fairly light, though some of you may disagree. For me this is about as light as it gets...I've brought only the necessities. The only extra things are my books, journal, gold fish and Snowy stufty. What?! I'm sorry but when I go to sleep at night I need SOMETHING to hold. Not because I'm scared or the dark or something dumb like that...but because it's just how I sleep. I've got to be holding on to something and no it can't be a pillow. So yes, Snowy shall be accompanying me.

And I think that pretty much covers my packing list. Hopefully I haven't over, or under, packed! I doubt I've under packed...but you never know. Anyway please keep praying that we will have a safe and fun trip!

Your ever busy and happy blogger,

Rebecca

Guess who's going to the Mountains?!

And here I am once again, you're ever ecstatic blogger! Well, guess who's going to the mountains for a WHOLE weekend?! Yep, me you're crazy blogger!!!

Most of you readers probably remember my mentioning a trip up to the mountains for youth right? Well, that much anticipated trip has finally arrived! YAY! But some of you may be new or some of you may not have been there for that post. So I'll quickly lay the whole thing out for you!

In our youth group there is a trip that we take once a year for a BIG youth conference and it's held up in the beautiful mountains a few hours from Mayberry! :D While we're there we will enjoy ice skating, shopping, concerts, hiking, and even skiing! We may not go skiing as it splits the group up a lot during the trips...but seeing how the group is a LOT smaller this year due to some of the youth being in college and all...we may go!!! :D Hopefully I won't break my neck...but you never know!

Either way, we'll be leaving late Thursday (note I will still be Mayberry Munchkin Farming that day) and we'll be gone until late Sunday! :D I'm SO excited...and nervous!

I've never been out of state without my family before...yes we're goin out of state...and I'm more than just a little nervous. I don't plan on doing anything stupid or dangerous...but the fact is I'll be on my own with the youth group and I'm sorta freaking out!! But I'm praying that God will watch over me and I know that the youth leaders will be watching out for us. So hopefully everything will go smoothly.

But anyway, I'm really excited about this totally awesome trip. Unfortunately this means that I won't be able to post on here at all during those four days. I may squeeze a post in Thursday...but I doubt it. I'll probably be a little busy.

Don't despair though, my good friends Jacob and James from JandJproductions are going to write a guest post while I'm away!!! I've known these guys since I was eight and they are like brothers to me! So anyway, I hope you guys will enjoy their post! :D

Well, it's late and I'd probably better hit the sack. Tomorrow's a big BIG day! So pray that we will have a safe and fun trip and that the weather will hold out and that God will watch over us! Thanks! :D

Your ever loving and ever crazy blogger,

Rebecca

P.S. I'll post pics and a day by day narrative of my trip after I get back!

Excercise For Me.

Hi there blogger peeps!
Well as you can see from the title of this post I will be talking about exercise! Yay! Now most of you probably know that I am a TOTAL exercise nut! Well, now that I am over my Six Week Six Pack (and yes I now have a six pack) I am moving on to other Jillian Michael's workouts!
Now don't start saying that I'm crazy okay. I know that her stuff hurts...a lot...but I like pushing myself. I like knowing that I can survive her stuff and I also REALLY like getting results. Jillian has brought me nothing but results and now I feel really comfortable with my body! So that's why I have already started lining up my new workouts.
First and foremost I will be doing Yoga Meltdown. And while I know that her Yoga is a little more Cardio oriented I've heard that people really liked this one. So I'm going to give it a whirl. I've watched the trailer and I think that I'm going to really like it. Well after I do Yoga Meltdown I'm moving on to the harder Shred-It with Weights. Yes it's harder...way harder! But hopefully I'll manage it!! :D But you never know it may kill me. And then last but not least I'll do the hardest workout she's got...No More Trouble Zones. This is a FULL body workout and it's over an hour long! This will be the last of my lined up workouts. I won't stop if I finish this one...I will be looking for other awesome workouts to do. But for now this is all I've got! So hopefully I'll be able to finish all of these and hopefully my body will look even better after all of this is done!
So anyway, I've got to go for now. I'll see you later!!! :D
Your Crazy and Loving Blogger,
Rebecca

She of the Munchkin Cold

Well, to put it lightly I'm sick. To put it not so lightly I feel like I was run over by a speeding semi, which then backed up and ran over me again, which was then hit by another semi which also ran over me. And then both semis fell over with one landing on my head and the other on my stomach. I could go on but I figure you guys get the picture.

So yes, I'm sick. Terrible sick. But not only with a head cold but also with some sort of stomach bug as well. Not the germ kind, the kind that only girls have problems with. The kind that makes you want to cut off your entire lower body. Seriously, I've spent the last two days feeling like my nose was going to explode and my last meal was threatening to make a reappearance. Yea, so I'm a ticking time bomb here people!!

Even as I write this post I'm fighting back nausea and the urge to blow my nose every five seconds. I don't know why this cold had to come at this particular time....I mean really, isn't enough that I'm fighting back a stomach problem?! Oh well, we beggars can't be choosers.

I'm not sure where I got this cold...but I highly suspect I got it from Mayberry Munchkin Farm. Now I love the little munchkins...I just don't love their germs! It's really sad when you consider the fact that I was pushing hand sanitizer like there was no tomorrow! But alas I guess one is never safe when it comes to Munchkin germs. :(

But now I've got to miss Jessie coming over today, and Piano practice tomorrow, and youth Wednesday and probably Mayberry Munchkin Farming on Thursday. I can only hope that I'm better by next week so I can go to Accelerent (spelling). I can't go up to the mountains with a cold! :O So hopefully I'll be better by then.

Well, I think I'm going to try and take a nap or at least take a break from the computer. Please pray that I will get better soon and that this cold will pass quickly and smoothly.

So see you guys next time!

Rebecca
