My 'New' Room!

You know how I said I would post pictures of my "new" room? Well, you were forewarned!

This, ladies and gentlemen, is my room's new look!

Before:

 After:

That's my new IKEA bed--I love it though I'm still trying to figure out how to sleep on it! I mean, after you go from sleeping on a tiny, cramped, little twin bed to a huge, spacious full bed--you notice a difference!

Before:

Yea, the brown and black just WEREN'T working for me. It was time for a well deserved up grade!

After:

I got the Keep Calm poster online for a buck--plus two dollar shipping. Pretty good for a poster that is usually nine dollars. I'm going to replace my lanterns with light up ones as soon as I can.

My vanity has stayed put. No changes there. Though I did move my radio.

My infamous 'back wall'. This wall is very large and therefore it's hard--make that impossible to find decorations for. My first instincts were to go with this:

Before:

Then I moved into This:

After:

Pic's a little blurry. Sorry about that! Note: The damask vase isn't staying there. That's just it's temporary home until I can find a better place to put it--AKA a safe place to put it.

And yes, I do have a slight fascination with any and all things British and my room does reflect it.

The bureau is gone and my dresser (formerly mirror + dresser) has taken it's place. I took the mirror down a few weeks ago when my posters came in. Not a fun job. Easy enough--just dangerous. The mirror was armed! Yes, the mirror was equipped with long--sharp--metal spikes that helped hold it in place at the back of the dresser. All groans, fun and blood aside--I shouldn't have worn shorts for THIS particular project!

The bookshelf has been moved several feet to the left. Also it's library has been enhanced. Save for one woeful exception. Yea, I bought Twilight. Bad judgement on my part.

Yea, Lego Indiana Jones poster from when I was twelve. I didn't even realize that was back there! Ha, that brings back some childhood memories! :)

This is my little reading corner. It's not a very good picture but hey it gets the point across. And look! Josh Hutcherson!! :D

This is my new desk area. The desk used to be where my reading area is now but since the bed is so big I had to move it. It works pretty good from over here. What'd you think? I'm posting to you from it right now! :)

This is my bedside table. I had to sit in my reading chair to get this shot. No I'm not posting a pic of the chair. Yes, it's covered in junk. Another project! 0_0

But all the work--and mucho dinero--aside it was totally worth it!! :D After a long year of renovations my room is finally (or at least I assume) done! :D

So what'd you think? I'm completely in love with it--though it still has some touching up to do. I know I just got off of saying it was done but that's for all the major stuff. There are still a few things here and there I have to fix. Fortunately the only thing that I think is going to cost me any more money is going to be the new lanterns. Hopefully.

But that's about it for now. I'm still really excited about my big secret! I'm still in the excitement stage with it. Oh well, it's something worth being excited about! :D

But anyway, I hope you enjoyed the pics and I'll chat at you later!!

My Birthday is Tomorrow! :D

Tomorrow is my birthday! YAY!! As of tomorrow I am officially 18 years old! This is my last day as a 17 year old! Hard to believe ain't it?!

The year just flew by so fast! I've met so many amazing people, gotten to do so many amazing and fun things! :D I'd definitely have to say that my 17th year was awesome! Let's hope my 18th year is even better! :D

I didn't really know what I wanted this year--so we just shopped around and I managed to pick out a few neat things! :D

I got:

A Jillian Michaels Dumbell Set (three different sets of weights ranging from 3 pounds to 8!)

Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown DVD

Two cute shirts

A really cute cup with my intial on it!

And copy of Romeo and Juliet.

I know it doesn't seem like much--but I haven't gotten to the most awesome present yet!

This Sunday, my aunt is taking me to IKEA to go shopping!! YAY!! I'm going to price a double bed for my room and maybe try to score a new bedside table! YAY!!

I also bought myself a new book, a Mockingjay Pin, a Hunger Games key chain and Mockingjay earrings. :) Yea, Hunger Games day I guess...

My party won't be tomorrow though--my dad has to work tomorrow and so we are having the party on Monday. But either way tomorrow is still my 18th birthday and I am really excited! :D I hope my mom makes biscuits for breakfast! Those are my favorite!

But anyway, I just wanted to share my excitement with you guys and let you know that I'm not dead. I know that my blogging has fallen behind...but I've really been working hard on my book so Just me has had to take a back seat. Speaking of the book I'm excited to mention that I'm on the all illusive draft THREE now! Getting close! The grammar and everything still has a LONG way to go--but I'm getting there. I've just started draft three and I'm already in the middle of chapter twelve! So exciting!

But anyway, my aunt and cousin are on their way here right now so I'd better log off! So I guess I'll see you later!

The Dark Knight Rises to the Occasion.

Yep peoples! I got to go see the Dark Knight rises movie in theaters last night!

Now, as most of you know--I was going to go see it last week. But Jacob caught a nasty cold and the two o'clock showing was canceled. So we had to wait a week. But that was ok cause we've had one hectic week

Anyway, yesterday my brother and I spent the day hanging out with James and Jacob. We just basically hung out, ate pizza and then went to watch the Dark Knight Rises movie! It was a lot of fun and thanks SO MUCH to James, Jacob and Mrs. Rita for inviting us! :D

Anyway, it was 'Get in Free Night' at the movie theater--so as you can imagine that attracted a lot of appealing people--but more on that later.

Anyway, the movie was actually very good! I was pleasantly surprised! I mean, I knew it was going to be a fairly good movie...I just didn't know how good! I'm not a Batman fan at all so this movie had to be pretty good to get my attention.

I won't give you any real hints as to the ending or plot--but probably by now most of you have seen it so I will disclose a few things as I give my opinion of the movie.

Well, first off the score was amazing! It had a lot of umph to it! So once again another great work by Hans Zimmer!

The acting was superb--especially by Anne Hathaway as Catwoman! She was brilliant!! She WAS Catwoman!!
Bruce Wayne had mellowed a good bit--but other than that he was pretty decent too! Also Liam Neeson as Ras Al Gul made several appearances and that pleased me plenty. :D

The plot was pretty good--very much like an end of the world movie though. Getting a little tired of those themed movies but this one actually made a decent bit of sense. I won't tell you about it though, just in case you haven't seen it yet!

The action was amazing! Perfectly plotted and executed! Thumbs up to Chris Nolan on this one!

The ending was superb and not as sad as we were lead to believe. Things actually worked out for the best. So that was a plus--I hate seeing movies with sad endings.

There were a few things I didn't like though.

Like, Bane's early life was mislead for part of the movie and later on after you discovered the truth they didn't explain why he'd mislead you. But hey, I guess an evil overlord doesn't have to explain much now does he?

Also, Bane's death was merely brushed over--and wasn't given much explanation or epic conclusion. I mean, we were left wondering if he was really dead or not. And then in the final scene Bane's villainy level seemed to drop from a 10 to a 3. Yea, rapid change there dude. Suddenly he just wasn't as strong, bad or dangerous. What was up with that?

Also, the movie started several questions that were never answered. I won't mention them because they give away key elements of the plot--but still those questions needed answering. But maybe, sense I don't read the comics, I didn't understand the link ups. Oh well. :)

Also, in the judgement scenes where Bane has taken over the city and has put all the rich and powerful on trial--I'd have to say that I was very disappointed with the set and overall feel of that scene.
To be perfectly honest it had more of a Harry Potter feel to it than a Batman vs. Evil Overlord feel. I'm serious, half way through it I expected Voldemort to walk in sentence Gordon and the others to death. I mean really? Was that all necessary? Oh well.

Also, batman just seemed clunky in his armor. He seemed like he was waddling everywhere. Sorry dude, but Jason Bourne could kick your butt in his street clothes!

Also, Christan Bale's voice as Batman--though better than last time--was still bad.
Hard to understand and just too over the top. He did a great Bruce Wayne though! Though at the beginning he was playing an aging Bruce Wayne which I suppose only makes sense. This movie does take place almost eight years after the last one!

But as for the movie as a whole, I liked it. It was fast paced, semi well thought out and fun to watch. I wouldn't put it up with great movies--but I'd probably put it down with most other super hero movies in the just fun to watch category. Sorry but it's true.

But would I reccomend this movie to you? The answer is a rock solid YES!! Go see this movie peoples! You will enjoy it!

But as whole I liked it and had a great time hanging out with my friends! :D I hope we can go see more movies together sometime in the future! :D

So thanks so much to James, Jacob and Mrs. Rita for inviting me and my brother to go! We really liked it! :D

So until next time!

Rebecca
